COURSE INFORMATION
Our training is delivered with a balance of theory and practical. Our small classes enable all students to work closely together offering a supportive network to each other throughout the various stages of their course.
We provide extra tuition for students with learning needs. We also provide hairdressing education for all groups including Maori, Pacific Islanders and mature students who wish to return or become a part of the work force.
To complete the course requirements, students are required to attend the school 31 hours per week and complete 5 hours self directed study time.
To meet our attendance criteria you must attend 85% of the course.
CERTIFICATE IN PRE TRADE HAIRDRESSING LEVEL 3
Graduates looking at the hairdressing industry as their career will have the opportunity to achieve the first and most important step towards a National Certificate in Hairdressing. Graduates will have elementary hairdressing skills that will then enable them to assist senior staff members in a commercial environment.
The course offers study towards Hairdressing Units in colouring, shampooing, finger waving, styling, setting and blow drying the hair as well as Unit Standards covering safe and professional practice.
The course consists of theory and practical elements and graduates complete training in our school salon.
Entry Requirements:
New Zealand applicants must be least 16 years of age. The applicant needs to meet the literacy and numeracy requirements of the NCEA (Level 1) including the sub-fields: Literacy, Numeracy and Communication Skills or/ have the equivalent knowledge and skills.
International applicants must be 18 years of age.
If the applicant is from a non-english speaking background they must have an IELTS level of 5-5.5
The international applicant must have the equivalent knowledge and skills for the New Zealand NCEA Level 1, as stated above.
CERTIFICATE IN HAIRDRESSING LEVEL 4
Graduates will be able to gain commercial competency and hairdressing skills in preparation for completing the National Certificate in Hairdressing. This course is the second stage towards a career in hairdressing.
This course includes study towards hairdressing unit standards in cutting, colouring and highlighting. The course consists of both practical and theory elements. Practical assessments are completed on site in the school training salon.
Entry Requirements:
Applicants must have completed the required Unit Standards equivalent to the Pre Trade Hairdressing course.
